"Panoramic Images"
by Kathy Tarantola-MA
Monday, September 29, 7:30 PM

Our finial presentation of the month will cover a subject matter that has not been presented at GLPA before. Creating captivating panoramic images is within reach of all photographers these days with digital stitching, but it still takes a good eye and a bit of technical skill to make them really shine. Our presenter Kathy Tarantola is a freelance commercial and editorial photographer who has been taking panoramic landscapes for many years, both digitally and with a Noblex 120mm rotating film camera. In this program she will show samples of her work and discuss composition, equipment, and techniques for creating successful images.

Kathy works throughout New England and beyond for a diverse group of clients including Fidelity, Nixon Peabody LLP, the Solamere Group, Stonehill College and the Peabody Essex Museum. She is sought after for her captivating portraits and has photographed numerous CEOs of multinational corporations, artists, and celebrities such as Buzz Aldrin, Kenny Rogers, and the Romney family. Her passion for photography is evident in everything she does from her stunning portraits to her panoramic landscapes. Her personal artistic work ranges from alternative processes, such as cyanotypes and Polaroid transfers, to large format close-up black and white portraits.

In addition to her freelance work, Kathy teaches digital photography, lighting workshops and Photoshop Lightroom through various local venues and the Digital Photo Academy. She has recently begun an exciting new venture called PhotoJourneys Workshops that provides a unique and personalized mentoring experience in a fun and supportive environment located in scenic locations throughout New England.

In addition to her corporate and artistic endeavors, Kathy has been an invited speaker at the New England Camera Club Counsel’s Convention and regularly gives presentations at camera clubs around New England. She has also previously held the offices of Co-President and Treasurer of the New England Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), is a member of the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University and the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA, and an avid supporter of the photography community in general.
