Welcome back everyone. I am excited once again to be able to continue leading the monthly Smartphone group even though I have moved half way across the US to Longmont, CO. My husband, Charles Needle, ANEC will also continue to join us when his calendar permits! We will utilize zoom to conduct our meeting virtually again this year. I hope the zoom format will continue to allow some that may not have joined in the past to come visit us and explore using the camera that happens to make an occasional phone call. We will start up our group meetings in October.
Ever improving camera capabilities in today's Smartphones, coupled with the fact that we typically carry them with us at all time, lends them to be an amazing tool to capture your world in a new creative way. All smart phones models are welcome and I will share my knowledge across the models to ensure everyone is included. Charles and I personally use the iPhones, but we try to find apps that cross over all smartphone models. I have won several awards with images captured and created on my smartphone, including a top 24-award image at the 2021 NANPA showcase, and the GLPA Image of the Year in 2024-2025 season. I am also starting to teach at workshops and events exclusively related to smartphone camera use, as they become more popular with photographers.
This group is intended to be supportive and fun! You do not need to attend all the meetings, come once or whenever its convenient! I love to have you share your images with us. Please consider sharing images you are proud of, ones you created with a new app, or ones you are having challenges with and would like some help on next steps with editing. I will try to offer a new app or technique at each meeting, and I encourage you to share new apps you are loving with us! If you have an app or technique you want to learn, please let me know during one of our meetings or send me an email!
I like to have an interactive meeting, so I strongly encourage sharing images, new apps you’ve discovered or suggestions of apps/techniques you would like to learn more about. Zoom is a great platform that allows me to share my phone screen, and we can walk through various apps/techniques and share images during our meeting time. You can email me your photo(s) ahead of time to frasermm42@verizon.net. Please email me photos no later than the evening before our scheduled meetings.
FOR OUR FIRST MEETING IN OCTOBER, please email me a photo or two taken or edited on your smartphone with any app no later than the evening before our first meeting. This will be a great way to see what creative images we all produced over the summer, what new apps we found and get us set up for the year. Feel free to come with questions or a suggestion for a new app/technique to review on one of our calls.
I look forward to "seeing" everyone at our first meeting in October and at future meetings throughout the year. You do not have to attend all the meetings to join our group, please feel free to join us for any meeting that fits your schedule throughout the year.
