by Bobbi Lane- MA
Monday, November 9, 7:30 PM
Bobbi Lane is a professional photographer based out of Boston, MA. She was recently named one of 13 top workshop instructors by Photo District News and we are thrilled she has agreed to speak at GLPA. Incorporated into this teaching presentation, Bobbi will do a live demonstration on how to use your flash, both off and on camera, to make simple, but pleasing portraits. If you are confused by your flash, or hate it, this presentation can help you learn how to make effective and meaningful portraits without a lot of technical gear. Our speaker will shoot tethered to the computer so that you can view the results immediately on the screen and understand exactly what she is trying to accomplish.
Our speaker is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Lane's multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 35 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. Her clients include GE, Warner Bros., Samsung, Neutrogena, Charles Schwab, Mattel, Fujifilm, Sekonic Meters and the Morro Bay Natural History Museum. Lane shoots primarily ‘real’ people for editorial, corporate, and advertising accounts. Her corporate and editorial work includes corporate identity, business websites and annual reports.
As a dedicated photo educator, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. Bobbi is known for teaching lighting techniques for portraits, both natural and artificial. Her excellent rapport and communication with her students inspires and motivates, while her straight-forward teaching style reaches students of many different skill levels. Her dynamic workshops are always both educational and fun. Combining her love of travel, photography and teaching, she also leads international photo travel workshops. In the past few years, she has been to Ethiopia, Myanmar, Turkey, Oman, Venice Carnival, Hong Kong and Dubai.
A featured speaker at many photo conventions around the country and also for Gulf Photo Plus in Dubai, she offers custom mentoring programs for emerging photographers, designed to help business development and improve photography techniques. A strong advocate for business education, at the APA National’s 25th Anniversary, she was honored with a Special Recognition Award for Education.
