"Finding November- With Artistic Flair"

Monday, November 6, 7:30 PM

In 2020 I extended my original Finding November project, again with the goal of looking beyond the bare trees and gray skies to discover the month's hidden beauty. It would be an exercise in the art of seeing and bettering my craft. This time, I enhanced the artistry with some creative processing techniques. I shot every day of the month - still images, time-lapse and video - and recorded my impressions while fresh. As before, November continually surprised me with unexpected subject matter in inspired light and circumstances. The results are truly fascinating. This presentation is full of lessons in the art of seeing and going deeper, exploring the creative potential of the landscape throughout the year, and translating the essence of our imagery with mindful processing. Come experience this remarkable time as never before.

Our speaker is well known to us having presented at GLPA in many occasions. He is a professional nature photographer, writer, teacher and much sought-after public speaker. He has produced three coffee table books on his native Adirondacks and his work has been published internationally in books and magazines, on calendars and posters, and in advertising media. He is a specialist on night photography and has produced two e-books on the subject. He has also produced one on his photographic journey, Finding November. He recently released a new instructional video, Multiple Exposures for Maximum Landscapes. Mark is a staff instructor for the Adirondack Photography Institute-ADKPI and leads photography workshops and seminars for camera clubs and other groups.

Mark will also be leading a hands-on half a day, Creative Landscape-Field Craft and Post Processing Workshop on Saturday April 15, 2024 here at the club. Full course info and online sign up will be available in Jan. 2024 in the GLPA website.
