"Inspiration-Finding Joy Through Photography"
by Andre Gallant, ANEC-Canada
Monday, January 19, 7:30 PMPhotography brings me joy by slowing me down and helping me notice the world more deeply. It begins with observation—time spent in nature, witnessing fleeting moments such as a sunrise, a mist-veiled lake, or geese silhouetted against a cloudy sky. Joy is also found in simple, everyday details and in capturing the spirit of places near and far. In this program, I’ll share how creative approaches, including Intentional Camera Movement and Multiple Exposures, allow us to create expressive images that reflect not just what we see, but what we feel.
André Gallant of Canada is an abstract and minimalist photographer whose work is rooted in quiet observation, light, and reflection, who has over thirty years of experience teaching photography workshops, including recent work with The Santa Fe Workshops.
Andre encourages photographers to slow down, notice more deeply, and trust their own way of seeing. For André, photography is a means of appreciating what truly matters—the beauty of nature, the wonder of travel, and the small details often overlooked. He has presented in person and by Zoom at GLPA on several occasions and was the Key Note speaker at a past NECCC annual conference, who also has written several books on photography and inspiration in shooting.
His teaching invites creativity, discovery, presence, and healing through the simple act of making photographs.
